Don’t Miss Out!
October 21st, 2011 Categories: For Fun, Local Events
My son is almost two years old, so this is the first year that I have gone to a pumpkin patch. I was really surprised how much fun it turned out to be. We spent the morning chasing chickens, looking at other animals, on a hay ride, running through the corn maze, picking out a pumpkin, and drinking cider. If you have children and have yet to attend one there are some great options in Northern VA. Send me some pictures of your trip!
- Pumpkinville- Leesburg on Route 15 at the Animal Park (this is where we went)
- Cox Farms- Centreville off of Braddock
- Heather Hill Gardens- Fairfax Station
- All Others…

Three Reasons You Can’t Sell Your Home…
October 12th, 2011 Categories: opinion, Sellers
The days on market are increasing, the amount of sales are decreasing, and the amount homes are selling for vs. their list price is decreasing… So what is going on? Why hasn’t your home sold yet?
One… Your home may need a second set of eyes. If you are getting showings and feel that you are priced well, it is time to bring in a stager. I know it costs a couple hundred more dollars but if it sells your home you won’t regret it. Why a pro? Because your friend may not be honest with you.
Two… These statistics are normal for this time of year. A lot of buyers purchased during the spring and summer. This doesn’t mean you should not be selling now as there is still activity. You simply cannot be casual about selling or have a lazy Realtor.
Three… You are competing with builders! Depending on where you live in NOVA, there are builders within close proximity that are capturing the heart of your buyer. They are priced aggressively, they are newer, and they offer closing cost help. This is another reason that you must know your competition when pricing your home.

Route 50 Is Getting Widened
October 5th, 2011 Categories: Dulles South, Local Issues
If you live or commute through the Dulles South area which mainly consist of Route 50 west, you know that traffic can be terrible at certain times of day. With the additional communities being built in Chantilly, Aldie, and the future hospital, is vital that route 50 is widened. My friend over at Gateway To Loudoun made me aware that the construction on this widening would actually begin today and be completed in 3 years.
The project will widen the 4 lanes that begin at route 28 in Fairfax County to 6 lanes all the way to Polland Rd. in Chantilly. It is estimated to cost $100 Million. Who knew asphalt cost so much? Nevertheless, we will all be thankful when it is complete.
I created a google image to show you where the work will take place.
