Loudoun County, Virginia
Loudoun County, Virginia is a wonderful place to live, work, play, and raise a family.
It is located only 25 miles west of Washington, DC bordering Fairfax (to the east), Prince William, Clarke, and Fauquier Counties (Loudoun Map). Loudoun’s population has at times been the fastest growing of all counties in the United States with Ashburn having over 73,000 citizens (as of 2006) making it the center of growth for Loudoun.
For recreation… Loudoun offers a little of everything. It is referred to often as horse and wine country with 17 vineyards to tour. You will also find the area to be full of historical sites and battlegrounds. Many residents enjoy a bike ride on the W&OD Trail which extends from Arlington to Western Loudoun or play on one of the many surrounding golf courses. Loudoun is only a short drive to DC, the Shenandoah Mountains, Maryland, West VA, and Downtown Historic Leesburg. For those who love to shop you are only minutes from the Leesburg Outlet Mall, Dulles Town Center, Tysons Corner and Tysons Galleria.
Business… Loudoun is home to the Washington Redskins Football Team, Old Dominion Brewing Company, AOL, Verizon, Equinix, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Janelia Farm, and many other hi-tech corporations. It is home to two Universities and is located only minutes from the Washington Dulles International Airport and the Loudoun County Hospital. The future of Loudoun is built around the extension of the DC metro ending to Ashburn and the World Trade Center (Loudoun One), which is currently under construction. Many residents commute to DC and other metro areas such as Tysons Corner, Reston, and Fairfax, VA for work.
