Loudoun’s Creighton Farms Fire
July 28th, 2008 categories: Local Events
On the way down Route 15 last Friday night my friend and I saw a huge trail of smoke not too far off. To our surprise what appeared to the maintenance shed at Creighton Farms Country Club managed by the Ritz Carlton was on fire. This is where they keep all of their lawn equipment, golf carts, pesticides, etc… from my understanding. Here is a photo that we were able to grab.

April 5th, 2008 categories: Ashburn Village, Local Events

I am not sure who invented the yard sale but some how the idea of putting all of the junk you don’t want in your yard caught on.
On Saturday, April 12th Ashburn Village will continue the tradition from 8am - 1pm.
If you are an Ashburn Village resident and want to participate you can register at the office at 44025 Courtland Drive for your home address and items being sold to be placed in newspapers at no cost to you.

Giving Back This Easter
March 22nd, 2008 categories: Local Events
I want to share briefly with you about a fantastic opportunity available locally. Mercy And Grace Ministry is a local non-profit that that gives back to those in need in the area by providing food and clothing to the homeless, along with mentoring and tutoring programs.
This weekend they teamed up with Grace Covenant Church out of Chantilly (located at the old water-park off of Route 28 and Willard Rd.) to give back to single moms and their kids in the area. It was an amazing event offering a huge meal, Easter egg hunt, free food, drawings, signed footballs from Redskins, and a chance to fellowship with other mothers in the area.
If you are interested in finding out more about Mercy and Grace Ministry or donating to them you can contact Carole Miernik at hismercygrace@yahoo.com.
I was able to take a few pictures with my phone for you to see. Sorry for the poor quality of the pics.

What Is Ashburn’s Best New Restaurant???
March 7th, 2008 categories: Local Events, Loudoun County
Ashburn is the heartbeat of Loudoun County. For those of you who live inside the beltway that believe that Loudoun County is the boonies, you obviously have not been to Ashburn.
I decided to keep the conversation lite today and take a poll of your favorite new restaurant in the area. Since I have a lot of readers outside of Ashburn, I will let you simply choose your favorite of the choices. The results will be posted on the site.

This Weekends Northern VA Event Picks: March 1st!
February 29th, 2008 categories: Local Events
If you are looking for something to do this weekend I have a couple great ideas for those inside the beltway and those outside!
If you are in the Loudoun area, check out the local farmers market in Leesburg on Saturday morning. This market will be open until April 26th, 2008 from 9am-12pm from the Virginia Village Shopping Center. The market hosts 17 different vendors offering seasonal vegetables, dairy, eggs, meats, wines, and SHEEP PRODUCTS!
My other pick for a great time this weekend is the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Alexandria!
The event will kick off Saturday morning at 10am with a Classic Car Show Competition on North Pitt St. just off of King Street.
At 10:30 the Fun Dog Show will begin and go until Noon in Market Square.
The PARADE itself will begin at 12:30 on King and West Streets. The events are planned to end at 2:30. The event is free to the public! Metro riders should use take the King Street Metro to where the Dash bus shuttle service is set to serve the parade events.
If you are interested in purchasing a home in the Arlington, Fairfax, or Ashburn area contact me as I would be more than happy to assist you!

Vote For The Dulles Rail
February 26th, 2008 categories: Local Events, Local Issues
Like many of you, I am a strong advocate of the Metro coming to the Dulles area. As the growth in the area continues as predicted we must be able to address the traffic issues.
Here is your chance to speak up!
You can sign a petition here for your voice to be heard along with many others to let our leaders know how important it is that this project continue.

Tomorrow Matters For Virginia: Poll Locations
February 11th, 2008 categories: Local Events, Local Issues
Usually after Super Tuesday it doesn’t really matter what state primaries are left. In fact, I can’t even remember primaries being that big of a deal in the past but now they are.
I will resist promoting my political opinion but I do encourage you to take advantage of the freedom that we have to vote by heading to the polls today.
