Cheap Contractor Work…
I am often in need of an odd job to be done that I am incapable of doing… I grew up with a mother who clips coupons and a dad that preaches the power the power of saving, so it is in my blood to look for a good deal.
One of the greatest tools we have in the DC area for finding people to do odd jobs is craigslist. You have the luxury of naming your own price and letting the people come to you. I am always shocked by how many people line up to help within a couple hours.
In the past couple of years I have had carpet installed, a hot water removed, and a plumbing job taken care of sometimes at 1/3 the cost that I am quoted through the typical contractor. Don’t get my wrong… half of the people that reply to me say they will only do the work at a higher cost (at which I delete their email for wasting my time).
While I can’t verify that this is the best or safest source for you… I have found this to be a hidden gem for me and my quest for a good deal.
major disclaimer- I don’t work for craigslist nor do I verify that any of the contractors that reply through their sites are qualified, licensed, or can get a job done correctly. You should do your own due diligence….
