Expect More Commercial Buildings In Loudoun
Northrop Grumman, a 30,000 employee company, just decided to move to their headquarters to Northern Virginia. The bummer was that they did not choose to call Loudoun County home. The reason is that they are seeking a building with at least 200,000 sq ft. While we have a lot of vacant commercial buildings in Loudoun, they are not that big!
It is an priority for Loudoun to attract large companies to the area. According to reports, they are now in negotiations with a handful of large out of state companies to re-locate to the area to do business (their names are undisclosed). However, the one problem we currently have with attracting large companies is the lack of large buildings to host them. The needed size is said to be at least 100,000 sq ft per building.
So, if you are wondering what we do with all of the empty commercial space currently sitting around Eastern Loudoun… I have no answer. However, with the County seeking to attract large companies you can expect that the size of buildings being built is about to change. Too bad we can’t build taller.
