Loudoun’s New Roundabouts
Traffic problems are all apart of a growing area. One of the most innovative ways that Loudoun is dealing with increased traffic flow in the county is the inclusion of roundabouts.
The junction known as Gilbert’s Corner (route 15/ and 50) was once managed by a stop light. It was obvious that this was not working as more people continued to commute in and out of the area. It was a common sight to see bumper-to-bumper traffic for miles at certain hours of the day at this intersection. Gilbert’s Corner is temporarily shut down and traffic is being re-routed through the new roundabout road called “Howsers Branch Drive.”
Here is a short video I shot of this intersection this past week…. In the video I call it the intersection of route 50 and 15…. My mistake.

I live in Golden CO and we use the round abouts. Its a wonderful traffic flow city. you never get backed up even in rush hour
Why even use stop lights anymore. I think round abouts are the best thing since sliced bread.
